The last 2 weeks...

At the Monte Dolack Gallery have been great. Last week I focused on putting up images on our website. I find the task fun and exciting. It gives me more experience with working with computers which is something I often struggle with. Putting up images on the website is not a very hard task there are just a lot of steps that one has to go through. First I have to take the image in preview and open it in photoshop. Then I save the image in 3 different formats and in three different folders. After saving them I open the master image in another program called fireworks. It is in firework were I reformat and resize the image. I also make the thumbnail for the website in fireworks. After saving the thumbnail and the newly reformatted image I finally put them up on the website. I write new descriptions for the image, add tags, put up its size and pricing, and make sure that everything is in order and looks good. I will repeat this process with every image I have to put up. I like the repetition of the task and find the more I do it the quicker I get.

This week on Tuesday I mostly put peoples addresses in our computer address book. While I was doing this I was also helping people out in the gallery. I have been able to answer a lot more questions which has allowed me to become more confident on the floor. I also have been answering the phone more which is new and exciting for me.

Coming back to the Gallery

This week is my first week back to the Gallery since being sick the week before followed by spring break. My first day back was great. I started a new project. It is my job to go through the website and copy the descriptions for all the pieces of art and then print them out and attach them to the backs of each piece. When I go through the descriptions it is my job to edit them and find the mistakes that occur on our website. I also have to take note when a piece of art has very little description so we can talk to Monte and fix it.

While I am working on this project it is also my job to greet guests and let them know what is going on in the gallery. I also work the cash register.

The gallery has framed some old pieces of art that Mary Beth and Monte made on their vacation to Hawaii. I thought they were stunning. My favorite was a watercolor piece by Monte of a Marlin.
